The Apollo 11 mission to the Moon for me is humanity’s greatest accomplishment. It’s crazy to think that it occured only 50 years after the Wright brothers came up with the airplane. I am sure that I wouldn’t be interested in spaceflight if the Moon landings didn’t happen. The sheer scale of everything involved and the amazing technology on the Saturn V rocket still amazes me to this day.
I wanted to paint something that truly encapsulated the entire point of the mission which was to put a man on the Moon. This was my first piece of digital art and the striking contrast of the Moon makes a great piece of wall decor.
