Falcon 9 Poster

I wasn’t around to see the iconic Saturn V or Space Shuttle rockets, so for me, the Falcon 9 is my generation’s iconic rocket. I feel like I’ve grown up with it in a way, having watched SpaceX progress from its early launches, to making it’s landings a regular occurrence. Having followed SpaceX for a while, the pictures that always get me excited are the closeups of its engines.

Launch photographers have been good at capturing these engines during launch – and it was those images that inspired me to paint something striking like this. I took my favorite launch photos and stitched them into one mega picture for inspiration. I knew I wanted to keep this painting simple, so I got rid of everything in the background and cleaned up the rocket as much as I could.
