Hamburg

After living in Hamburg for over a year, I became very familiar with every little street and area. When people come to Hamburg, it’s basically a must to go and see the Spiecherstadt, the old Harbour that was once the heart of the city. My flat was covered in cool paintings of Hamburg, so I wanted to make my own piece of Hamburg art.

After looking online for inspiration, it was clear that the Spiecherstadt was the thing to paint. But I thought it looked better as a night painting – it looked more elegant and warm. Once the painting was finished, I looked for Hamburg art galleries and other contemporary art places in Hamburg to sell it. But I ended up finding a buyer on Reddit – a guy that lived in Hamburg but was from the UK actually. I took the painting to him on the train, the only time I’ve ever hand delivered a painting.
